Above: Taken on Stephen Avenue, 1975. This negative was never printed as it didn't fit the assignment. Imagine my excitement when I found and scanned it so many years later. Zooming in, I can tell that these fellows are a hockey team from Manitoba.
On Photography
I often say that photography is my first love. I became smitten with what I could do with a camera as a teen when I learned how to make black-and-white prints in high school. I studied photojournalism at SAIT in the mid 1970s (B.C. -- Before Computers). I had an amazing instructor, Terry Cioni. Tough but fair.
I fell in love again when I bought my first digital camera. I lost that one in Paris and later replaced it with a better one -- a Lumix G1. I bought some lenses, then a G7, and now I shoot with a Lumix G9. Most recently I've been playing with a Lensbaby Trio and the Lumix 100-300.
In 2020-2021, I also worked as a photography coach/mentor. See us here

I have been asked if I sell prints. I do not stock prints but if any photos in my portfolio interest you, please contact me via the contact form. For photos of indigenous dancers, I add a royalty fee, payable to them.

My 19-year-old photographer-self.
Taken in my basement suite on 17th Ave when I was a SAIT student. My black-and-white prints and a map of Calgary as it was then proudly behind me.
